How do you forget how many vacation/personal days you have left once November hits. I realized that I had around 5 days to plan around November to plan. We are not allowed to roll our days over unless someone approves it. Which I guess is a good thing. At my last job with Ohio Casualty people rolled weeks over to the next year that they did not use. We are alloted that time so why don't people take it. I think that I am a little too giving to my employer. I work very hard and I have learned to take the day off and not worry about it.

Last week was month end for our company. For those that don't know every month we are to get every piece of new business and renewals billed into our system. We are training two new employees and one of my department co-workers did not get a 500K account billed. Our boss boss ran the numbers at one point and he was so high. Then the next day it dropped like crazy. We billed what we could. Come to find out our big boss get commission if he meets a certain number every month. I don't think we are suppose to know this, but now we do. That totally pisses me off. We don't see this money. We get a stupid fuckin afternoon christmas lunch. We get a half day, but we have not been made aware if there is going to be one this year. I'd rather see a bonus...:)...He gets one....We all work hard and I think we all deserve a little encouragement.

The Christmas party sucked last year. Our company is so divided between the underwriters and policy services. Both departments were on opposite sides of the room. They could give a rats ass about us. On the positive side, I probably know more than our underwriters know. Which is a big benefit to me if I would ever leave. I just go to work and get paid for what I know how to do. I come home and forget about work. Except right now b/c I am writing in my blog and it the title is The daily life of an Unruh.

Feliz Navidad.

Oh Christmas Tree!

This weekend was sure eventful. Friday night was dogs night out! Bogarts birthday party was a very interesting one. All the little dogs were there (bogart, jack, riley and max). Then Katie and Tom came over with Pooh Bear and Molly. Oh was that crazy. There was a small dog complex. The little dogs did not like the big dogs. Molly was getting mean with the little dogs. It was time to go. Pooh Bear and Molly were the new dogs in the group. The other dogs have been around each other plenty of times. We then celebrated Bogarts birthday. It was nice. Bogart got a lot of toys and treats. He is spoiled.

Last night, Saturday, we were back at Jen and Chris's to help them put up their Christmas tree and decorations. It was pretty fun. We played some Christmas music while we were decorating. I love Christmas! Then Tony ordered $8 breadsticks. He didn't want to go out, which I don't blame him. It was cold out.

We then played a game, buzztime. That game is awesome if you have not played it. I recommend getting it. Then watched War of the World. A movie I highly recommend. Tom Cruise was not annoying as normal. He played a good character. Go watch the movie and play the game. You will have a blast on a Saturday night. Who would have thought?

Dogs night out!

I think I am counting 6 dogs tonight in one house. Our good friends dog, Bogart, is having a birthday party. He will be turning 3 next weekend. I remember when he was a pup. He is oh so cute now but oh so adorable then. Now he is white. When he was little he was a blackish brown.

I was just reminising through some pictures we have of Jack online. There are some pictures from the first day we got him. He is sitting in my lap so scared. He didn't eat for days. I had to hand feed him on day 3. Now he can't be away from us. He is the biggest whiner. On the other hand, Jack is the greatest dog I have ever had.

Getting back to tonight. Jack loves to play with bogart. They got at it right when we walk through the door. Jack has made an impression on Riley. As in Riley is scared to death of him, Jack. Jack and Riley were chasing one another one day and they just ran into each other. Jack of course came out a winner. That is only b/c Jack weighs 20 lbs and Riley weighs like 10. Big difference. Jack also gets to meet Pooh Bear. That is another friends dog. It is a big dog. Jacks encounters with big dogs have not been too good. Two have tried to attack him. Which scares me. Though Jack was trying to fight back...

Anyway, Jack is pretty excited. It is not too often that he gets to play with 5 dogs.

A day of relaxation

Today I have the day off from work. Oh how great it feels. A break was well needed. I have thought about doing some Christmas shopping today but haven't decided what to buy and for whom. So for right now I am typing in my journal with my dog sitting next to me with Ask for help on tv. Not really watching it. My husband is recording it.

I really want to decorate for christmas but I don't want to be one of those people that decorate their house before thanksgiving. I think I am excited is b/c we are going home (in-laws) for both holidays. Tony's sister is sssssooooo excited we are coming home for Thanksgiving. We are haivng a girls day out with his mom and sister. That should be a lot of fun. We like to go shopping the day after Thanksgiving. The boys (tony, dad, and uncle bob) are going to go golfing. Might be a little cold but it should be fun for them.

Today I am probably going to go visit my old work friends. It has been a while since I have seen them. You know I do not have a full week of work until after Christmas. That is just fantastic. Though this is one of the busiest time of year for being in insurance. AHH! Oh well. I will get it done.

TIME TO SHOP!!

Holiday anticipation

I love this time of the year. All the planning that needs to be done. Not only for Thanksgiving but for Christmas. We are going home for both holidays. I am pretty excited. I hope that a blizard doesn't come through like it did last year. We got caught in the middle of it and stopped on the highway. That was not too fun. A 5 1/2 hour drive turned into a 8 hour drive. GAH!!

We are planning to have Christmas at our place for my family on the 20th of December. I just love the feeling of Christmas. The music, decorations, etc. Especially the music. I know someone that doesn't like Christmas music. That is so unheard of. I am sure that it is not but whatever.

Our best friends' sister is pregnant. I am pretty excited. I am not ready to have kids yet but I love when other people have kids. It is amazing how my perception of kids have changed. I used to say I didn't want any and now I do and love the thought of having kids and being pregnant.

They are making cinnamon rolls (nice tight buns as they said) on America's test kitchen. Work was just a big blur. We have two new people in our department at work. I was training one and another co-worker was training the other. This week my co-worker was pulled from training and now I have to train both. So thursday and friday I had to train all day and not be able to work. It is draining when you have to teach someone how to work our system and actually teach them in a way that they can understand. I am a detailed person so I explain things extensively. Which is a good things I guess. It just takes longer to explain but at the same time they can understand it from the beginning. To know it and do it yourself at your own pace is so much easier and less time consuming. My brain is just drained.
My new trainee is slow, not in a bad way but I think that once she gets the whole picture she will get a handle on things.

Well, it is that much closer to Christmas and I haven't really started shopping. I want to but at the same time I have no idea what to get for people. I always want to get the perfect gift for people. Not just some gift I get them b/c I have no idea what to get them. Why bother then? Better off just getting them a card saying Merry Christmas. I don't like getting gifts from people that think they have to give me one and it is something that doesn't interest me.

Anyway, it is getting late and I am exhausted.

One Extra Hour

Other than the constant sqeaking of Jack playing with Sonic the Hedgehog it is pretty quite this morning. Woke up this morning and forgot about the time change. Made me quite happy. An extra hour today.

With my extra hour I get to clean house and do errands. Tony will be going into work today to make up some time.

Last night we went to Jen and Chris's house for a party by the fire pit. It was a lot of fun. The chili was DAMN good...YUM!!!

So yesterday I got satellite radio. Right now it kicks ass!!!! I always listen to my cd's in my car. It gets kind of old. I needed some variety. I believe this should give some variety of songs with the different genre you can select from. I AM STOKED!!!

Tomorrow is Halloween. I am going over to Mark and Jen's place to meet up with my newphew Zack, Trae and Kelsey. That should be fun. My niece and nephew are so great. I wouldn't trade them in for the world. Kelsey can be a pain in the rear some times but she is a lot of fun. Just overly hyper.

Well, I am going to go get some breakfast. He was going to be a big boy. I am not sure how much he weighed but he was 18 inches long. He had a ton of hair already. His feet and hands were huge. I got some closure last night. I didn't think that I would be able to see him but I am sure glad I did. Now I know what he looks like.

Today, as stated in the title, will be the blessing of Jacob and his certificate. I am still not aware when the memorial and burial will be. I think that all of the family is still in shock.

It is going to be hard to not ever get to know him.

Jacob Thomson
October 1, 2005

You will forever be in our hearts. Love you.

Mixed Emotions

Went to the ballgame last night. It was the best ball game I have EVER been to. Pujols hit a grand slam. That was the first Cardinals grand slam we have ever seen. The place went wild. Our team rocks. We got tickets to Game 1, 5 & 6. Wish they would announce the day and time...

Got home from a wonderful evening. I had messages on my answering machine and my home phone rang at like 12:15. Who calls that late? I thought it was Jennifer calling to tell us we forgot something. It was my sister. A call at midnight is not a good thing. My sister in law is in the hospital. They lost the baby. She was due in like 6 weeks. They are making her deliver. Right now her platelets will not clog, which means if she delivers she could just bleed. How do you get over this? I know in time it will be easier on the family. What about Jen and Mark? how do you get through something like this? I can't even imagine what they are going through. I have a nephew that I am never going to know. Zack- his brother is going to have to be told that his brother will not be home. How do you go from being pregnant to not bringing the baby home? It is so hard. We have to make sure Jen is alright before the baby could be born. They think Jen has an infection. They won't know until 72 hours what the blood tests are going to show...??? Can't they speed this up??

I didn't have my cell phone on me for the first time last night. My family tried to call and call. Imagine if I did have my phone on me. They tried to call me around 7:15 or so. It is a blessing that I didn't. I can't imagine having to go to the stadium and then turning to my best friends and say we have to go. My sister is in the hospital and just lost the baby. I know they would have understood and gone but we all were looking forward to the game. One of those do I go or do I stay?? but i ddn't have my phone on me...What are those chances? There is a lot of history in that stadium and we got see some records made last night. On a personal level and professional level with the players.

This weekend will be spent at the hospital with my family. I am in shock...I still don't believe it...

Fantastic Thursday

Why is it fantastic?? I have started a new blog. Lets see if the third time is a charm. I tend to not want to get on the computer much when I get off work. Though usually someone is on the computer most of the time. Luckily tonight, the cardinals are playing the cubs. I think we are loosing right now.

I tend to freeze up on these things as I never know what to really say. I guess anytime I think of something I can update my journal. Guess that is step one.

Today was an interesting day at work. It was my first day back from a long labor day weekend. Found out that our new employee in our department was let go. She had been there about a month and was just not catching on. Plus, she missed all of last week with food poisoning. I would have went to the hospital for that. It was nice to come back to work with no one touching my desk. We are a little busy at work and can't help each other. We get 8 hours of overtime.

Just got back from our trip to Memphis with Jennifer and Chris. Was it lovely. Great to get away that is for sure. Once we go through the pictures I will post some. Got to see the Peabudy ducks..They were adorable.....

Jack, our dog, is very glad to be home with mom and dad. Though, he does miss his friends. He has slept for the past day or so. On tuesday that is all he did.

Lets hope I can keep this blog interesting.
